Hollywood talent executive Philip Sun is making a major career move by leaving M88 just five years after co-founding the agency with Charles D. King. According to industry sources, Sun is preparing to launch his own agency on September 3, 2025, and some of Hollywood’s biggest names are joining him in the new venture.
Among the high-profile clients expected to move with him are Michael B. Jordan, Gemma Chan, Caleb McLaughlin, Simo Liu, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Sun, who has built a reputation for championing diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry, previously served as a top agent at WME before taking on the role of president and managing partner at M88.
During his tenure, Sun played a key role in major Hollywood deals, including Warner Bros.’ acquisition of The Censors, a film that grossed more than $366 million worldwide on a $90 million budget and is now considered a strong contender for the upcoming awards season. The project was one of 2025’s big theatrical successes and highlighted Sun’s influence in packaging big-screen ventures.
Charles D. King, who continues to represent acclaimed director Ryan Coogler, will remain with M88 while Sun moves forward with plans to form a new firm. Attempts to reach Sun directly for comment were not immediately successful.
The move marks a significant shift in the Hollywood talent representation landscape, with Sun’s next chapter expected to particularly attract the attention of stars like Michael B. Jordan, one of the industry’s most valuable names with a strong portfolio that includes Black Panther, Creed, and upcoming films.
