Cardi B acquitted of all charges in 2018 altercation

Los Angeles: American rapper and Grammy Award-winning singer Cardi B has been acquitted of all charges in a civil lawsuit related to her 2018 altercation. A Los Angeles jury ruled on September 2, 2025, finding Cardi B not guilty of any charges.

Case Story

The case dates back to when Cardi B was four months pregnant. Former security guard Emanai Ellis claimed that the singer had bitten her in the face with her fingernails and spat on her. However, Cardi B said that there was no physical contact at all, just an exchange of words. She said that Ellis was repeatedly following her and making videos on her mobile phone, which angered her.

Testimony and court decision

Witnesses in court, including a doctor and a receptionist, testified that Ellis started the altercation. One witness also suffered minor injuries while trying to stop the fight.

The jury returned a verdict in less than an hour and acquitted Cardi B of all charges.

Scene outside the courthouse

After the verdict, Cardi B said:

"I swear to God, I never touched that woman."

She asked fans not to harass Alice or her family.

The singer's fans were outside the courthouse in large numbers and chanted in her support. One fan had written the famous phrase: "If the nail doesn't fit, the accusation doesn't fit either."

Alice had filed a claim for $24 million in damages, but the verdict went in Cardi B's favor. Thus, the 2018 dispute is now completely over and the singer is free from any legal burden.
